Why is DOB required to enter a Scout?

Scoutbook requires a Date of Birth in order to calculate and validate advancement logic and qualifications for awards that are based on age. Our integration into the BSA’s national database also validates DOB and the Scouts membership number. The DOB is one more piece of information that helps us identify each Scout account so there are no duplicates created.
